Wake up to a real V12.
A 1:18 die-cast supercar on your nightstand. At 7:00 it fires its real engine sound. Tap the roof to shut it off.
6:59. Then 7:00. Then 8,500 rpm on your nightstand.
Hear your alarm
Every car ships with its own recording of the real engine. No synth, no sample pack. Pick the one you'd want to wake up to.
10-second previews. Your clock ships with the full recording of your exact car. Preview recordings: ePic eXhaust, Hungarian Supercar Spotters, Automotion Media, ApelSINKA, Fabio Rojas Pichardo, Supercars67, LA VLOGS via Wikimedia Commons (CC BY 3.0); JorisDJN via Freesound (CC0).
How it works
No app. No pairing. Three buttons on the base and a roof you can hit half asleep.
Set the time on the base
Hour, minute, alarm. Red seven-segment digits in the plate recess, dimmable for night.
7:00. Cold start.
The car's own engine recording, ramping from idle to redline over 20 seconds. Tail lights pulse with the revs.
One tap. Silence.
Tap once to stop, twice for a 9-minute snooze. The whole roof is the button.
Your phone alarm isn't working
You've swiped it away 400 times without opening your eyes. Your brain filed that sound under "ignore".
| Phone alarm | ColdStart | |
|---|---|---|
| Sound | The same chime as 2 billion people | A 6.5 L V12 you can't sleep through |
| Turning it off | Swipe. Eyes closed. Back to sleep. | Reach, sit up, tap the roof. You're up. |
| Where it lives | In your hand at 1 a.m. | Across the room, looking like this |

Car guys. Real mornings.
Early customers. Real mornings.

Set it for 6:30. First morning I was standing up before I knew what was happening. My wife hates it. I love it.

The blower whine at 7am is unreal. Build quality is way better than I expected for the money, the base is proper anodised metal.

Bought it for the turbo flutter. Stayed for the tap-the-roof thing. Haven't hit snooze on my phone in three weeks.

Got this as a gift from my girlfriend. She filmed my reaction. I'm not posting it.

2JZ at full send across the bedroom. The model itself is detailed enough that I'd buy it without the clock.

Shipped fast to Canada, no duties. The V12 ramp from idle is the best alarm I've ever had and it isn't close.

Questions
Is it the real engine sound?
Yes. Each car ships with a recording of that engine, idle to redline. Not a synth, not a generic "sports car" loop.
How loud is it?
Up to 85 dB at one metre on volume 10. Loud enough to wake you, adjustable down to a polite 5 for the person next to you.
How do I turn it off?
Tap the roof once. Tap twice for a 9-minute snooze. Hold for three seconds to disable the alarm for the day.
What scale is the car?
1:18. About 25 cm / 10 in long. The plinth is 30 × 14 cm.
Can I use it without the alarm?
Yes. It's a clock and a display piece. Alarm off, LED dimmed, it sits on a desk or shelf.
Is it an official product of the car maker?
No. ColdStart is an independent brand. The die-cast models are licensed scale models; ColdStart is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer.
